The Manor Farm Barns Project
What was originally a group of redundant farm buildings built by Ben Du Brow's ancestors, now provides 32,000 sq ft of prestigious office and venue space. Over the last 8 years the buildings have taken on a completely new phase in agricultural economy,

through a thoughtfully detailed and considered conversion providing unique office environments.
It involved a complete refurbishment and modernisation of a large range of farm buildings inherited by Ben Du Brow which he wanted to preserve in some way - the idea being the only alternative to demolition and loss of historical buildings.
The architecture throughout the complex retains the informal rural character and rustic charm of the original structures, with exposed brickwork, heavy beams and original features - a conscientious reminder of its agricultural heritage.Traditional Norfolk construction techniques were used throughout and the majority of the work was carried out by local craftsmen.
The entire scheme incorporates a diverse range of converted structures, each displaying individual qualities and visual aesthetics that serve to shape and define the cohesive identity of the complex.

The intention of ensuring the development appears as a cluster of converted farm buildings has been a primary ambition from the early stages. The traditional farm buildings at Manor Farm Barns were associated with confined yards and not open field locations. In order to maintain this particular trait, the development did not intrude into the open countryside - indeed it can not even be seen from any roads or areas of habitation.
The initial phase of the project began with converting a barn to a restaurant, which has since been further extended in a similar architectural manner to the existing conversions. The neighbouring barns were converted in a similar fashion, providing a core of offices to the scheme. The conversion of the World War II building to a double storey office was unusually innovative and makes an attractive addition to the scheme. In addition, the conversion of an existing steel frame 'Dutch Barn' into a two storey building has created first class open floor offices.

The material aesthetics of the conversion thoughtfully acknowledges the location and settings, with exposed red masonary brickwork and stained timber boarding.
The Manor Farm Barns conversion project has been used in used in case studies to support other such plans both locally and further a field as a prime example of its transition from dereliction to excellence.
